English Month Celebration

“Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things”, as quoted by Flora Lewis means that the language we speak shapes the way we think and influences the way we look at the world. There’s a big chance that we can better understand the world.

This led to the English Department of Sekolah Kallista to celebrate the English month from November 07 – December 09, 2019. With the theme “Outpouring Hearts and Mind through Language Proficiency”, an array of activities were conducted to promote and appreciate the usage of English as a second language.

This is a month long event showcasing the students’ talents and skills in writing, speaking, theater arts and other opportunities in using the language and be exposed to it. Other activities were scrabble contest, spelling bee, acrostic poetry, mobile photo essay, quiz bee, song interpretation, poetry recital, choral reading, storytelling, oratorical speech and read-a-thon. Portrayal of different book characters and the search for Literary King and Queen were also part of the celebration.

Without the unwavering efforts of our dynamic teachers and staff, this event would not have a successful turnout. For this, I am truly grateful and proud.
